Like the title of the thread states, what do you remember as being some of the Most Powerful Scenes in Film History? What pops into your head? There are no real rules here, paste as much as you like, in order, or not in order, from as many movies as you like, or from the same movie multiple times... I think it would also be interesting if each of us stated our ages, so that we can see which movies have more deeply affected each age layer... I think that, as a side effect some of us might be educated into some movies we haven't seen, and that are hold in high esteem... I'm 26: (In no particular order) - American Beauty - When Fitts shows her his movie, of the bag in the wind; - Platoon - When Elias dies; - Braveheart - Wallace's Torture; - The Crow - "...can't rain all the time."; - The 10 Commandments - no particular scene, and at the same time, all the scenes; - Michael Douglas' "The Game" - The Scene where he jumps off the building; - Kevin Costner's "Tin Cup" - When he (finally) makes his hole-in-one; - Toy Story 2 - The whole "When She Loved Me" song scene; - The Untouchables - The whole scene in the train station with Ness and the baby carriage, and when Sean Connery's caracter, Malone, dies; - Shawshank Redemption - When they meet at the end, and his escape; - Fight Club - When they almost shoot the clerk in the shop, "...tommorrow is going to be the most beautiful day of his life..." - The Last Castle - When Robert Redford raises the flag - Training Day - "...King Kong hasn't got shit on me..." - Schindler's List - Schindler's speech at the end, when he receives the ring "...this car... another four people..." - The Bridge on the River Kwai - The British soldiers standing on the sun, the destruction of the bridge; - The Elephant Man - When the mob removes his head cover; - 2001, A Space Odissey - When the monkey throws up the bone; - Poltergeist - "Inside the TV" scene; - Alien - "Chest Burster" scene; - Leon - When Mathilda burries his plant under the tree, to the sound of Sting's "Shape of My Heart"; - Toombstone - "...you're no daisy... you're no daisy...", "...hell is coming!" You guys?

I'm 17
- The Shawshank Redemption - When it's revealed that Andy Dufresne escaped Shawshank by tunneling through a cement wall with a tiny pick and crawling through a sewage pipe to freedom.
- Saving Private Ryan -The very end when Private Ryan is staring at Captain Miller's grave.

Yesterday I saw Pulp Fiction for the Nth time and I realised almost every scene in there belongs to that category :) The scene with Christopher Walken where he gives the watch to little Butch is one of my favorites.

The ending of Terminator 2. I think Tim from Spaced said it best: "I can *be* emotional. Jesus, I cried like a child at the end of Terminator 2. You know, with the thumb...and the...molten..."

Many of mine have already been mentioned, but I would add:
Apocalypse Now - The helicopter scene.

I forgot about that movie. For me, it would be the final battle. When you have a really good sound system, the sound of the tanks rolling in really puts fear in you.

Gone with the Wind: C.U. SCARLETT's hand pulling radish out of ground, wiping off dirt. Hand with radish leaves scene.

M.C.S. SCARLETT, silhouetted against the dawn, straightens up, starts to eat the radish, it makes her sick, CAMERA starts to dolly in. She retches, falls to the ground, sobs. She rises slowly, CAMERA pans up with her and moves to big C.U. She looks heavenword and raises her fist.

No way; the overly sentimental pap that bookended the good stuff was the only letdown on an otherwise very good movie.

The Little Mermaid, at the end when she's sitting on the rock and Triton puts his trident in the water and that gold stuff starts creeping towards her... I was freaking out. I've never been that scared in a movie before. Very well done.

Gone with the wind - (Rhett Butler at the base of the stairs just as he comes up to sweep the woman off her feet to take her to bed, or, is it the scene where he leaves her high and dry, I forget, anyway) "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"

Alien - (Sigourney Weaver overcomes fear for the sake of her maternal instincts to warn the alien queen about the little girl) "Get away from her, you Bitch!"

Casablanca - (Humphrey Bogart) "Play it, Sam" [He never says, "Play it again, Sam"]

2. The end of 'The Crossing Guard', at the cemetery. I'm not ashamed to say I cried during that scene.

The Conversation. With Gene hackman. The final sceen, when they play back some of the recordings from a bug in his appartment. The then procedes to tear up the appartment looking for the bug. Awesome...
