Team name: Not decided yet, not important untill the game is finished :-P Project name: Codename: Tery. Real title is not decided yet. Brief description: We're trying to create an old-school style RPG, with some small action minigames and long and deep storyline ;) I'm working on it for 1,5 year so far and my plan is to finish it by any means necessary. :) I was inspired by games like Final Fantasy 7, Knights of Xentar, Lost Vikings, Abuse and others. So far the engine is basically working, needs a lot of features though, so it needs to be finished, the storyline has to be put together, and graphics and sfx has to be added (it should be matching the story mood) Also, as a side project (or temporary main project? who knows), I'd like to create a small action shooting game, which could be played by multiple players in a network. It would run in same engine as the RPG (engine is flexible enough to do so). Talent needed: Anyone who wants to join and has a free time, enthusiasm and patience on his part of work. I think that mostly needed are: - we are lacking mainly artists (2d artists / 2d pixel artists) - level creators - testers (afterwards, when something is finished) - composition artists maybe ? - programmers, C++ Target aim: Freeware so far, if the game will be good we can start selling it for a low prices. Compensation: General goal is freeware, so all i can offer is crediting the game and gained expirience :) But if you want me to pay you, and you show the skills, we can deal about it. Ofcourse if we make some money from the game then it will be different. Team structure: Team is very freely organized, each team member is from different city, so we communicate only by internet. It was a one man's work for long time, so other team members joined the project in last few months. me - programmer, working on it for approx 1,5 year; coding of the game engine, creating needed tools. there is one game designer and one story writer (both for creating the game story), 3 programmers, 1 sound and music guy (with great portfolio) Technology: Game should be portable, so it is using SDL for graphics and input, and FMOD for sound support. Currently it is developed under Win32 in MSVC++. It was also compiled and running successfuly on Mac on both LE and BE hardwares. Graphics are purely 2D so far (so no OpenGl) but it can be decided later on (for effects and such). Any graphic and sound programs for editing the game contents. I am also making some tools if they are needed. Website: Project does not have official website yet, all discussion would take place through mails, icq or irc. Later on if it is needed we can set up a forum for it. Here is my homesite: http://mirex.mypage.sk Contacts: email: mirex@centrum.sk icq: 162 170 358 Additional Info: Screenshots from the latest release: Dungeon RPG mode: 2D arcade jump-and-run mode: The same, on Mac computer Here is latest release demo: Tery from 05-07-28 When you unpack it and run it, you happen to be in the level editor so press F8 to swith to the game and back. Game is controlled by arrow keys and space and by mouse. If you want to see the level which is displayed on the screenshot press Menu and then Load. Even newer release: Tery from 06-march-23 (win32 release) [Edited by - mirex on May 12, 2006 9:13:56 AM]

Heads up:

I am fairly sure that if you intend to make money on this, you can't use FMOD for free.

Hello Daniel
yes I'm aware of that, as long as we keep it free we can use it for free, when we try to sell it we have to think about one of the fmod licence possibilies.

Why not build an interface that wraps sound, and then a dll for fmod. That way, when the time comes you can decide to buy a fmod license or build your own sound dll?

Programmer16: yes we have sound class that wraps usage of sound and interfaces fmod ... but afterwards when it will be successful I want to support fmod by buying licence from them.

Your project reminds me of so many games I loved as a kid. I'd love to help test when you're ready.
