I love the new layout

Very nice layout, dont like the drop down menu very much but it works. Bright colors make it a bit more "happy" less depressing, however when im in a dark room it doesn't help me much.

The colors are horrible. Just horrible. It's so bright, my eyes want to die. Please, just tone down the white. Ah god.

I was caught by surprise when I turned the forum page and a new layout hit me in the face like a ton of bricks.

Don't mean to contend everything you say, but I feel the opposite. I love the new menu but dislike the colors. I'd like the old format with the new menu.

I like this new layout better. The colours are much easier on my eyes.

are you crazy?? The old layout was dull and depressing. It made me wanna kill myself everytime I got a compiler error. This is alot better.

what new menus?

I'm only seeing what is bascially the same as before, only in VERY ugly and annoying white and blue.

This is a horrendous shock to my system. If I don't feel better about this soon like you said I would, I want my money back. And I want it payable in squirrels.

I don't think I'm going to be able to stare at this bright screen for hours. Are you trying to tell me something?

I'm tired of all the eye candy shit. Yes yes, HDR, motion blur... Game development should be about gameplay, not graphics !

I kinda like it, altough the old buttons are kind of a huge wart at the top of the posts.

Only reason not too keen on the new menus is due to the fact it takes them a second to drop I like instant results.

I think the new layout looks awesome. Can't wait until they fix the rest of this theme (such as the black buttons at the top)

I dislike the new menu and the new colors... but this may just be a familiarity thing.

For one, I think the new layout completely blows away GameDev.net's originally very traditional, kind of hackerish layout (i.e. the dithered logo and all that). It made the site look old-school and stuff. The new one looks like way, way too generic - even with the really (IMHO) dumb-looking 'crystal' icons (like the ones that come with KDE... they look cool for a couple of seconds then quickly get old).

I think the old layout made you feel like you were actually part of a programming community... not some dumb startup site made by a bunch of half-competent jerks who can't even figure out how to change the default phpBB theme.

I agree with others that the white on black was easier to read. Considering that the only times I really sign onto GameDev.net are during evening hours, with very dim lighting, a less bright layout would be easier on the eyes.

Forgive me if this offends any of the staff or people who have been working on the new layout, but if you could find something more of a compromise (or at least give the option to use the old layout (through a Control Panel config thing or w/e), it would be really nice [smile].
