in other news, visually at least a scanner darkly looks freaking amazing!

It was, and they tried to change it to "Pacific Air Flight 121" partway through production, but I hear that Samuel L. Jackson threatened to quit if they changed the title or something. (also said that "people don't want to see Pacific Air Fligth 121, they want to Snakes on a Plane!")

And he's completely and utterly right. Snakes on a Plane... it's so painful it's awesome, and so awesome it's painful.

A Scanner Darkly will hopefully be amazing; the book is top notch

What else do you need to know? How the snakes get on the plane, what the snakes do once they're on the plane, who puts the snakes on the plane, who is trying to get the snakes off the plane...This is not for you to ponder. There are snakes on the plane. End of fucking story.

Oh Lord.

Too much CGI, not enough real snakes.

Oh. Dear. God.

I don't think there has been a good film involving snakes, ever.

You sure? There's been enough of them...

Ironically I've never seen any of the movies on that list, however I've been checking the bargin bins for Boa vs. Python for some time now :).

Summary:
Snakes on a Plane stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent who is escorting an eye witness on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles when a crimelord sets in motion the release of hundreds of deadly snakes on the commercial airplane in order to eliminate the witness before he can testify against him. The FBI agent must protect his witness while banding together with the pilot, frightened crew and passengers in a desperate attempt to survive.

Granted, however the films aren't orientated around the snakes themselves.
