I've seriously watched this video at least 10 times. I love it. The guitar work is crazy.
Power Metal FOREVER!!!

DragonForce does indeed kick ass. So does Heavenly.

I dont even like metal Iam more into rap, but these guys are amazing!!!

I don't know how I feel about keyboards in a metal band, and the guy's voice is a little too sweet, and the guitar work is a little too fast for that kind of style, but I like it. It's almost a mix of Megadeth, In Flames, and Dredg.

The song is damn good. I like how the video is just them playing as well, no gimmicks.

DragonForce... hmm good stuff... crazy power speed metal...


I wish I could figure out how that guy can play without getting carpal tunnel.

Dragonforce are awesome. Their previous album, Sonic Firestorm, is their best work IMO. Very melodic, the intensity of their music comes from the speed rather than the rawness/heavyness of it.

As for more powermetal, my favorite bands are:

Sonata Arctica- Some tracks to look out for: Fullmoon, The Cage, My Selene and Die With Your Boots On (Iron Maiden cover.)

Kamelot- Some tracks: The Haunting, Centre of the Universe, Forever, The Fourth Legacy

If you're into the funky videogame-like effects used by Dragonforce, try Machinae Supremacy (if you can get used to the guys voice [grin]) Their website is at http://www.machinaesupremacy.com. My favorites are Through The Looking Glass, Kings of the Scene and Player One.

I love DragonForce. I've currently only got Sonic Firestorm*, but I hope to expand my collection (I hear Valley of the Damned is good).

Edit: The Rug listens to good music! Kamelot and Sonata Arctica are more of my favourite bands.

Apparently Symphony X are power metal, too. Whatever they are, they make good music [grin]

Do you like progressive metal at all? You might get more varied stuff in that genre. And of course, I have to suggest Blind Guardian for their amazing song writing.

(Not sure I'd call Iron Maiden "power metal" either. More like straight up heavy metal)

I used to like some progressive metal, but as of right now I'm entirely out of the metal genre.

Ehh, I guess Maiden isn't power metal, but much of the same goes. Of course it doesn't apply as much (they have better and more varied songwriting), but (last year I'd never have imagined I'd say this) I'm a little tired of them.

Check out "We Don't Need a Hero" (Hellfire Club) by Edguy first. It's been stuck somewhere in the back of my head for about 2 years. [headshake]

Not really the kind of stuff I usually listen to, but the best bit was, during the solos at the end, one of them picked up a bottle and actually took a drink while the other one was solo-ing.

I like it. I dont really care what metal songs ae about. I just go buy if I like how they sound.

The trouble with dragonForce is as some previous posters have stated, they don't change!

Listen to a song of Inhuman Rampage and it might aswell be off Valley Of The Damned for all the difference between the two albums.

Compare that to a song off Blind Guardians first and lastest album (or Edguy for that matter) where the progression and change practically slaps you in the face :P

Dragonforce are an amazing band, it's all about the stupidly fast guitar while having amazingly cheesy (but still really good) vocals, unlike other sorts of Metal. As for them not changing - I see why you say that but I disagree, I think they definately went for a different sound on Inhuman Rampage compared to Sonic Firestorm.

As The Rug already said, Sonata Arctica are an amazing band, if you like Dragonforce you should definately give them a listen!

Stratovarius are also a pretty good band, althought despite being known as their successor I think Sonata Arctica also surpass them quite resoundingly.

Got Crimson Thunder by Hammerfall today as well, it's a really good album, slightly different style to the other bands I'd say but it still boasts the cheesy powermetal lyrics.
