RIP Robin 'uavfun' Stanton

I didn't know him well too well, either, but I always thought he was a good guy from the interactions I had with him. This was really shocking news, and he'll be missed.

Holy shit.

He was a cool dude, and we had some conversations in IRC. I can't believe it... Condolences to the family.

RIP, Robin. RIP.

I've known uavfun on IRC (also known as "prop|fan" on FlipCode's channel) for the last few years and have been there for most of the times when his father has appeared in the channel to talk to us about him. It's a very bizarre situation, but his father has given us a great deal of detail about the situation (as much as he could) and Robin's death is a very real and sad occurrence.

For anyone who didn't have the pleasure of speaking to uavfun, here's the TL;DR version: he was a very talented programmer and had a very clever and witty way about him in IRC. He has been an active member of the FlipCode and GameDev channels, along with our more-recently-created GraphicsDev channel. He was a fantastic individual from what little I knew of him through our daily IRCings, and it's an enormously sad loss.

I'll miss uavfun. We didn't speak often, but he was a strong, competent and compassionate guy.

I wish I had known that there was something wrong. GDNet has lost one of our oldest and truest friends.

I also knew him mostly from IRC, but he was always very easy to get along with, witty, and smart. He had good suggestions and ideas, and was always fun to chat with.

I'm sad to see him go.

Wow, wasn't expecting this... he always seemed like a very cool upbeat guy, very unexpected.

My condolences to the Stanton family and all those who were close to him. I only spoke to him a few times, selfishly for help of course. He was very easy to get along with and very very intelligent and helpful. May he rest in peace.

Really, I can only echo what has been said by others here; while I didn't know him well it is a great loss indeed.

Are there any plans to do something for the family? A card with flowers perhaps? I'm not sure what would and wouldn't be appropriate in these kinds of situations, but it appears his family knew he had friends here, and it feels bad to just not do anything [depressed]

I've never had anybody who i've talked to (remote or in person) ever do something like this. I feel so bad that even though I didn't know the guy personally that I wish I knew or could have done something. God bless the Stanton family, RIP Robin. I remember Robin had helped me a few times with my art or game design as well as I would see him on the IRC a few times if I remember. But I always remember seeing him on the forums. Wow, I'm utterly shocked. God bless buddy...

He was one of the few people I didn't consider a slathering idiot in some way or another. He will be missed.
