Project name: Iron Grip: Domination (working title) Brief description: Iron Grip: Domination is a massively-multiplayer web game based in the Iron Grip Universe, a richly detailed story world built around the "steampunk" genre. With strong eastern European influences, Iron Grip is a universe dominated by enormous zepplin warships and uniquely stylized steam-based technology and weapons. To learn about about the Iron Grip Universe, click here. Iron Grip: Domination will be an isometric "total domination" game with RTS and simulator elements. The game will be written in Java and will have support for multiple browsers and mobile devices. Target aim: Freeware Compensation: Full- or part-time contract paid at a competitive rate. Talent needed: Programmers:
  • The ideal candidate(s) would be experienced Java coders
  • Experience working in a remote team environment using code sharing and versioning tools a plus
  • Must be a dedicated worker, able to work independently and be able to handle aggressive schedules
  • Must be a fast learner
Server Side Programmer This position would involve writing the server-side code to process all the game logic, taking input from client games, and sending game state updates to clients who are affected by them and currently logged in. This will also be the primary person designing and maintaining the database as well as setting up any replication that we need to mirror it between servers. Client Graphics Programmer This position would involve defining the API that the rest of the game components use for displaying and drawing things in the game. They will be in charge of getting JMonkey updates and integrating them as needed as well as adding any graphic things we need that JMonkey doesn't already offer. This person will also help with the basic UI layout in the game and generating the templates for the newspaper with game news. AI Programming This programmer would be responsible for writting the appropriate AI constructs that control various systems within the game. Cities need to build themselves based on the parameters from the governor, units need to be controlled in battle, and computer-controlled districts need to manage themselves so that the world is populated with interesting, dynamic content. Unit/Combat/Special Missions Programmer This person would be in charge of programming for all the units. This programmer will be responsible for building a data-driven framework to support each type of unit in the game so that artists and designers can quickly and easily add new units to the game. This person will also have to build the combat system, which will be the logic for resolving battles, determining who wins, etc. Any special missions that heroes or other units can carry out would also be built by this person. Alliances/Reputation System/Diplomacy/Government Types Programmer This person would build the alliances system to allow players to form alliances and work together. They would also be responsible for the reputation system and its affects on the game. Other projects may include coding support for different government types and other diplomacy actions. UI Programmer This person will build the UI for managing your district and city, the UI for controlling how things are built, managing production, etc. This person would write the logic for how various resources or technologies affect production, how things that the player or AI build affect your district/cities, and the code to view your cities. Tools Programmer This programmer will be responsible for creating tools for generating game worlds, map editors/designers, unit editors, administration tools, stat displays, and more.
IT Systems Administrator
  • A strong IT or Systems Administration background working with Windows-based servers
  • Organized and self-sufficient
  • Fast learner
  • Experience working in a team environment with remote collaboration and administration tools a plus
Isotx is looking to hire someone to help maintain our development, web and game servers and other various infrastructures. Ideally we'd like to find someone with an IT or systems admin background, but we'd be willing to consider a fast learner with a love for video games!
