Flight Based Games

Falcon 4
This is a pretty good fighter jet flight simulator. Pretty advanced controls to boot.

Rigs of Rods
This is a pretty unfinished and unpolished "game." You can drive around cars, man boats and fly some aircrafts. It isn't very realistic but its fun to smash things apart.

Here's A list of a bunch of flight sims. If you click on the game, then on one of the websites, you should be able to find out most of the information you need. Off the top of my head I know that Warhawk, Wing Island, Blazing Angels, and some of the Ace Combat series are recent. Anyway, I hope that helped. Have fun!

How about Blazing Angels?

Orbiter is one of my favourites, but it's a little tricky learn to use at first. Once you figure out the controls and some orbital mechanics, however, it gets considerably easier. :P

On the more hardcore side, there's Pacific Fighters, IL-2, and Lock On.

Ace Combat is a pretty popular more arcade-type game.

X-Plane

Falcon 4 is the most sophisticated flight sim I've ever sucked at. Just amazing.

Don't forget all the Jane's Combat Simulations games. I still have the huge manual from the Longbow chopper sim.

Flight gear is an open source flight sim. It's not as sophisticated as msfs or xplane, but it's free. http://www.flightgear.org/
