The September 2008 release of SlimDX is now available for download! You can get it, as well as information about the new release, from our Downloads page. New with this release: * Direct3D 9Ex support * DirectSound support * The new Sample Framework * New Asteroids sample game And lots of bug fixes as usual. I think everybody here is pretty familiar with it at this point. See the Release Notes for a full list of changes. One thing: If you want features that aren't in SlimDX, for god's sake ask for them! In general we're not going to add support for stuff unless there's at least some demand out there for it. Both DSound and D3D9Ex made it in because people asked for them. Don't assume someone else has already asked for it or that we're working on it -- tell us it's something you need! That applies even if we're already working on it, because demand affects how we prioritize features.

Congrats to the new release. You're doing a great job and I'm happy I could contribute with a handful of bug fixes/improvements. Keep going!

We greatly appreciate the efforts of VizOne and others like him who take the time to not only point out/track down bugs, but also develop potential solutions to them. It makes our jobs that much easier.

Congrats to your great work. I am currently developing in XNA, but following your work closely, with the thought in mind to switch to dx10 someday.

One thing that stops me from doing this, is the content pipeline of xna. that thing is just awesome.

still, your work is greatly appreciated!
If that's not the help you're after then you're going to have to explain the problem better than what you have. - joanusdmentia

Like Dave I'm pretty much hung up on XNA's content pipeline, but looking at the impressive list of release notes since I last tried it, I really gotta take SlimDX for another spin. Congrats on the great work at any rate!

It's not like SlimDX could never have a content pipeline at some point [grin] With the advent of the Sample Framework, we are free to add high level constructs without risk of contaminating the rest of the library. If you haven't done so, check out the Sample Framework. Those of you with an XNA background will feel right at home.

I can confirm that the sample framework is really good. :)

I've been working with SlimDX for a couple of weeks now. I appreciate the work you guys have put into it!

Did the methods necessary to send a struct to the HLSL shader make it in this release? I've seen that SetValue has become a generic method but there doesn't seem to be a method dedicated to that purpose...

With the caveat that I haven't tried it, SetValue should be able to pass a struct just fine. Don't forget to set SequentialLayout etc on it.
