I recently began my adventure into 3D programming when I decided to start learning an engine called Irrlicht. It's going very well now, and I have been making solid progress on what began as practice and is becoming a full game. The game will be called Stealth Prankster and will be a full 3D remake of a game of the same name which I created back in 2002. It is likely to be a fairly short game, and I'm hoping for a development frame of about two months, which seems feasible at this rate. Team name: None yet Project name: Stealth Prankster Brief description: It will play similar to Metal Gear Solid, but it is staged within a school setting. You must avoid the line of sight of patrolling teachers as you complete a variety of objectives in this mission-based game. Story: You play the role of a high school freshman who has just joined the ranks of a notorious gang-- not a gang of thugs geared toward violence, but a gang of jokesters geared toward pranks. You are assigned missions such as dropping laxatives into cafeteria food (and, in the following mission, adding insult to injury by slapping an "Out of Order" sign on the staff restroom). You begin climbing the ranks, and all is fine and dandy, until a rival prank gang shows up and wants to take away your fame... Target aim: Freeware Compensation: N/A Technology: Built upon Irrlicht, a cross-platform 3D engine which is free and, believe it or not, visually appealing with nice effects. Target OS's: Windows, 99% chance for Linux, and a tiny chance for Mac. Talent needed: 3D modeler(s)/artist(s). I'll need someone to create some human models in the .md2 format: the player, some teachers, and some NPC's (.md2 format is the format of Quake II or III, I believe, and has animations built in -- you don't need to create all animations for each model, only a few animations for each-- standing, running, and sometimes an extra animation or two). I'll also be needing someone to create various small objects-- a buddy of mine is just starting to get some 3D modeling experience, so he might be able to handle the objects himself. Team structure: I'll be doing all of the programming. I'll also be writing the storyline and probably designing the levels. A friend of mine may be interested in composing the music. Contacts: Contact me via private message here on GameDev.net. Previous work by team: You can see my previous work at JoshForde.com. Current progress: The gameplay engine is off to a strong start, with player movement and the camera all set up. Here's a screenshot of the game engine so far; beware that it is largely empty at this point and that the player model is only a temporary model: screenshot. UPDATE: Collisions are now in place as well, meaning you can no longer walk through walls.. heh. Feedback: Encouraging only [Edited by - josh1billion on December 19, 2008 3:25:11 PM]

Still looking for a 3D modeler/artist.

More progress:
- camera view has been decided (not third-person, more overhead)
- enemy code is moving along very well (field of vision is coded, so enemies can now "see" the player).
