Anyone else think a gamedev podcast would be a good idea? Usually they're not too much work and really helpful. Thoughts?

Are you hip to IndustryBroadcast?
Ryan Wiancko's voice has an unfortunate tendency to put me to sleep... That aside, IndustryBroadcast is a very neat resource.

However, when I saw the topic of this post, I was thinking of something a little more hip: an equally tongue-in-cheek equivalent of the GDNet Dailies, perhaps, in a once weekly format?

Yeah it is rather monotone.
I was thinking something along the lines of a one person who is typically the host for all of the podcasts who talks to different people each week about news, theories and stuff on the forums for 20 to 60 minutes.

We've been kicking around the idea of a GDNet podcast for nigh upon 5 years now, if not longer. We kinda sorta had one with IndieZen radio last year very briefly - I only sat in on one show. IndieZen is no longer in operation tho so that stopped.

Honestly I don't know. If members of the community were to start a podcast with the aim of affiliating with us, that could be a possibility. Given how long we've been dragging our feet here, I can't say whether we'll ever do one.

I still think about it every now and then though. Mainly my thoughts are "what can we do that's different and fresh?"

That is the sticking point - finding a niche that doesn't duplicate the function of the Dailies, or end up being yet another X-Play look-alike.

Hell, if a suitable topic/niche was found, I would be willing to voice some sessions (British accent FTW [wink]).

So we could get some people to volunteer for this, set a time and date and have a recorded a voice chat?
I don't mind helping out with organising it but I probably won't be much help in regards to content.
