Generally when you have a 70K salary you have enough to buy a domain and a half way decent website. So you would not be using zetaboards free forum hosting and @live.com for your email. I would strongly suggest doing so as 90% of your possible employees wouldn't even apply to a hotmail account.

Also we need slightly more information about what you plan to do and how you plan to do it.
What Game Engine?
You say C/C++/C# they are not really compatiable with eachother, so which one is it?
OpenGL/DirectX? Let again which one.

What do you mean by massive FPS Death Match? Quake style death match, or counter strike death match? Or something else?

We need a bit more details my friend. Also a game design document would help.

Normally I don't do this, but a domain and website won't cost 70k, in fact registering a domain name is like $10.00 a year and you can get hosting for $5.00 a month, building a website doesn't cost $69,985.00 of the remaining 70k, you also state that c/c++ are not compatible together, lol how long have you been programming the only one not working together is C# since it is complete OOP. Someone correct me if I am speaking out of my butt!

Is that $70,000 total budget or is that for each position? Either way, since you are a startup I would seriously look at licensing a game engine instead of creating it all from scratch. Torque seems to be really focused on FPS type games. That would shave at least a year of development time for you.

I agree with the others about the "unprofessional" messageboard and email address. Waiting to post until the website is done would give you a bit more credibility. Right now its hard to tell if you are legit or just another in the long line of idea guys promising the stars but who have no idea how to build a rocket.

Woaw, a 70k sallery! i´m a programmer with c++ and dx9&10 skills.

I believe you might be reading this a little wrong. I think he means if you're willing to fund seventy thousand dollars per position for a team then you surely can fund the pittance required for a domain name and hosting and no where did he single out C and C++, he meant them all as a group so if one isn't compatible as even you stated then as a group they aren't compatible. If you try to insult his programming abilities so easily maybe one should insult your comprehension skills, at least there's more proof of that one.

Also yes a website does mean a lot especially if you are willing to put so much money into the project, it's one of the first little things people see to show how determined you are.

What I don't understand though is you said it includes such and such options but there's no area stated. I might be wrong as I haven't really done international work but wouldn't health care be a little odd to deal with depending where people are? I mean I've seen plenty of people here from various countries as well.

this is not a scam but i will post soona gain when i get my legit website/ email up. it is 70,000 per position post game release

Salary generally implys you get paid while you are working on it, not after. So now it sounds like you only get paid if the game makes enough to pay everybody. This will probably limit the number of people with professional experience (and probably chances of project success) that will apply for a job.

Fair enough, I will not argue the fact that in can be taken in both ways, after you stated your position especially since you reworded it, it proves this. To the point of the skills saying choose one out of c/c++/c# you wouldn't have to choose just one as stated. I choose to mention only C/C++ because those are compatible so you wouldn't have to just choose the one. You obviously had a small comprehensive problem yourself there. Lets not argue over something so childish I admit I shouldn't have attacked his skills, considering I have no clue, but you also shouldn't attack someone because they take something differently then you do, makes you no better then me at that point.

I see a very broad project with a nice salary. I think you're trying to kill the dragon at the end of the game without even leveling up once (made me laugh...and that's all that matters).

Just because you get a team together and make a game, this doesn't guaranty it's going to sell. If it doesn't sell all those programmers(and everyone else)who worked hard on the project will be screwed out of their promised salary.

A percentage of the profit would be a better idea (IMO). I mean you still have to put some cash down for advertising, not to mention we don't know what medium you're going to use for its release.

I wish you the best of luck, but like everyone else is saying. Without a website or specific positions openings I don't see it going very far ( Website hosting is cheap, even I a poor cs Student has one).

ty for the advice. i was thinking all day and did come up with percentage of the profits. so my idea is percentage of sales and bonus if finished faster like if your not a lazy person

Wiared, your promises are interesting, but have you done either of the following?:

1. Made (read: finished) a nontrivial video game
2. Run a successful business

I'm assuming the opportunity's still open, since this thread is still up. My friend is very interested in working with you (he has all of the qual's and previous experience). Even though the programmer salary is low, it sounds like a great way to pick up valuable stock options -- when the company becomes profitable. I'll have him email you a cv, etc.
