Hello everyone!
Link to test https://nonamegame-studio.itch.io/astoria-faber-exitii
We are NoNameGame Studio, a small Ukrainian indie team working on our first game,
Astoria: Faber Exitii.
Astoria is a 2D pixel art top-down RPG set in a dark fantasy world. The protagonist awakens in a mysterious forest with no memory of who they are. What begins as a struggle for survival eventually leads to the coastal city of Virgilia, where people are disappearing and old secrets are beginning to surface.
“We are the architects of our own destruction.”
The Current Prologue
The playable Prologue takes approximately two hours to complete. It introduces the player to the main story, the world of Astoria, and most of the core mechanics that will be expanded throughout the full game.
Several locations to explore
Story-driven quests and dialogue
Different enemy types
Three boss fights
Blocking, dodging, parrying, and counterattacks
Finishing moves
Crafting and consumable items
Puzzles, secrets, and hidden locations
Keyboard and controller support
Combat System
Combat is one of the main parts of Astoria. Enemies are able to block, dodge, parry, and punish the player’s mistakes. Because of this, continuously attacking is not always the best strategy.
Players need to manage their stamina, watch enemy attack indicators, choose the right moment to defend, and use counterattacks to create opportunities for finishing moves.
Recent Improvements
We recently released an update based largely on feedback from players and playtesters.
Reworked the opening tutorial to make it faster and clearer
Reduced the number of intrusive tutorial windows
Improved menu navigation for controllers
Added new combat sounds and visual effects
Improved hit feedback and enemy reactions
Added new craftable potions and materials
Redesigned navigation and healing signposts
Added rats and more environmental details
Development Feedback
Since this community includes many experienced developers and designers, we would especially appreciate technical feedback about:
The readability of enemy attacks and combat indicators
The timing and usefulness of blocking and parrying
Hit feedback, sounds, effects, and enemy reactions
Combat against several enemies at the same time
The clarity and pacing of the opening tutorial
Controller navigation and general interface usability
Honest criticism is very useful to us. Even a short comment about something that felt unclear, frustrating, or unfinished can help us decide what should be improved next.
Future Plans
The Prologue is only the beginning. After it, we plan to continue the story across three larger parts that will fully reveal the world, characters, conflicts, and main storyline of Astoria.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our project. We would be grateful for any thoughts about the combat system, tutorial, interface, or overall presentation.
