Hi everyone,
I'm an independent game creator currently working on an original project called Earth Rebirth: Pangaea.
I'm now looking to put together a small founding development team. I have been working on the concept and game systems for some time, but I don't want to try to build something this ambitious completely by myself.
The project is a persistent 3D multiplayer RPG focused on exploration, combat, character progression, equipment, quests, missions and a larger progression system that I don't want to fully disclose publicly yet.
There is a lot more behind the concept, but I'm intentionally keeping some of the deeper lore and unique mechanics private while I'm putting the initial team together.
At this stage, I'm not looking for a huge team. I'd rather start with a few good people who actually work well together and gradually expand as the project develops.
I'm currently interested in people with experience in:
Unity / C# Gameplay Programming
Gameplay systems, character abilities, combat, quests, inventory, equipment, progression, NPCs and other gameplay systems.
Multiplayer experience is a big plus, but it's not mandatory if you're a strong gameplay programmer and interested in learning.
3D Environment Art
World environments, terrain, buildings, props, modular assets and other game-ready environment work.
Blender or similar experience is fine. Understanding optimization and how assets need to work inside Unity is important.
3D Character / Creature Art
Characters, creatures, weapons, armor, rigging, texturing and other game-ready assets.
Technical Art / UI / VFX
Unity UI, visual effects, shaders, materials, optimization and helping keep the game's visual direction consistent.
I'm particularly interested in finding people who want to become part of the founding team, rather than people who just want to complete a task and move on.
The type of person matters to me just as much as the technical skills.
I want people who:
Communicate clearly
Are reliable
Actually finish things they take responsibility for
Can work independently
Can give and receive constructive criticism
Are willing to challenge ideas when they think something is wrong
Can explain why they disagree instead of just saying no
Don't take criticism personally
Can accept that their own ideas won't always be used
Are willing to learn
Respect other people's contributions
Don't disappear without communicating
Care about the quality of the game, not just getting individual credit
One thing that is particularly important to me:
I don't want "yes" people.
If you think I'm making a bad design decision, tell me.
If you think something is technically risky, tell me.
If you have a better approach, explain it.
I'd rather have someone challenge an idea and help improve it than someone who agrees with everything just because I'm the person who came up with the project.
At the same time, disagreements need to stay professional. The goal isn't to win an argument. The goal is to make the game better.
I'm also looking for people who understand that long-term game development requires consistency.
You don't need to work 40 hours a week.
If you can realistically contribute 5 to 10 hours every week and communicate properly, that's much more valuable to me than someone who says they'll contribute 40 hours and disappears after two weeks.
About compensation
This is currently an early-stage, unfunded independent project.
There is no salary being offered at this stage.
I'm looking for people interested in a long-term collaboration / founding team arrangement, with revenue participation and future compensation to be discussed and formally documented as the project develops.
I'm also working on opportunities to secure sponsorship and funding for the project.
If the project becomes funded, the intention is to transition appropriate development roles toward paid work as the available budget allows.
I'm not going to make vague promises about everyone becoming rich if the game succeeds. If we eventually establish revenue share or another compensation arrangement, I want it to be discussed openly and documented properly.
I also don't expect anyone to commit to years of development based on this post.
I'd rather start by getting to know each other, doing some small work together and seeing whether we're actually a good team.
How I want to develop the game
I want to take a relatively practical approach.
Build something small.
Test it.
Find out what doesn't work.
Fix it.
Then expand.
I don't want to spend years designing everything on paper before we have proven that the core systems can actually work.
The multiplayer architecture is one area I'm taking particularly seriously. I'm currently separately discussing an initial technical prototype with a senior Unity multiplayer developer, so I'm not expecting every person joining the team to be a networking expert.
The goal is to gradually build a team where each person brings a useful skill to the project.
About the project information
Earth Rebirth: Pangaea is an original project, and some of its deeper mechanics, lore and world structure will not be publicly disclosed during recruitment.
That's intentional.
As we identify serious candidates and establish an appropriate working relationship, I'll be able to share more information depending on the person's role.
I'm not expecting someone to join a project knowing nothing about it. I just don't want to put the entire concept on a public forum.

You don't need professional game industry experience.
If you've built your own games, prototypes, systems, environments, characters or other projects, I'd rather see what you've actually made than just read a list of software you've used.
I'm also not expecting everyone to know everything.
What matters to me is that you're willing to learn, communicate, contribute and work with the rest of the team.
I'm hoping to find a small group of people who genuinely want to build something together and see where we can take it.

An ambitious project, starting with a small team.
