Nintendo FY sales soar 98.6% to $14.6bn following launch of Switch 2
Nintendo’s FY ended March 31, 2026 with net sales up 98.6% to ¥2.3 trillion and operating profit up 27.5% to ¥360.1 billion, driven by the Switch 2’s first year on market. Hardware/software/accessories sales for the dedicated platform business rose 106.7% to ¥2.2 trillion, and Switch 2 hardware reached 19.86 million units with 48.71 million software units sold.
For developers, the practical takeaway is that Nintendo is now in a true cross-gen transition: original Switch hardware still sold 3.8 million units and software 136.91 million, while Switch 2 titles like Mario Kart World (14.7 million bundled), Donkey Kong Bananza (4.52 million), and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (3.94 million) show strong early attach. Nintendo also raised Switch 2 prices in Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe due to memory shortages and market conditions, and expects FY27 hardware to dip to 16.5 million while software rises to 60 million.
