Show your support for Blender projects
Blender has added a “Show your support” feature to its donations page and Roadmap, letting contributors start a donation from a specific project and have it count toward that project’s supporter total. Blender says the underlying funding model stays non-targeted, so the Development Fund can still balance major features with maintenance and quality-of-life work.
The practical change is visibility: donations now help surface which roadmap items resonate most with the community, and the supporter count is shown as likes. That gives Blender a clearer read on demand without turning the fund into a strict earmarked system, which can be useful when deciding what to emphasize publicly and what to schedule next.
At launch, the feature is limited to one-time donations and new memberships. Existing recurring supporters will get the option in a later update to choose a favorite project from their DevFund settings.
For game developers who rely on Blender in production, this is a low-friction way to influence the toolchain you depend on. It also reflects a broader tension familiar to open-source projects: balancing headline features with the less visible work that keeps a DCC stable, fast, and usable day to day.
