Nvidia kills Windows XP-era Control Panel "after 20 years of dedicated service"
Nvidia is ending default installation of the legacy Control Panel with GeForce driver version 610.47. The old UI has been around since 2006, but Nvidia says its actively supported GeForce features have been modernized and moved into the newer Nvidia app.
For game developers, this is mostly about where you go to change driver-level settings on workstations and QA machines, especially if your team still relies on the old panel for quick checks. Nvidia is framing this as a consolidation move: the new app is supposed to be faster, more efficient, and include the modern functionality of the Control Panel for GeForce RTX GPUs, plus extra features. The main risk is short-term friction for anyone with muscle memory, scripts, or support docs built around the old interface.
