What’s New for Game Developers: DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering, NVIDIA ACE Updates, and New RTX Kit Capabilities
NVIDIA Graphics says DLSS 5 is now available in NBA 2K27, and the big change for developers is a new 3D-guided neural rendering stage that sits on top of the engine’s frame. NVIDIA is positioning it as a way to add richer lighting and material detail while keeping artist-authored geometry, motion, and scene structure intact.
The practical hook is control. Developers can mix models across gameplay and cutscenes, tune Structure Intensity and Tone Intensity, and use semantic AI masking plus engine-level masks to target or protect specific assets. NVIDIA says the system is deterministic, temporally stable, and runs locally on a single GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU at up to 4K.
NBA 2K27 is the first shipped example called out here, with Visual Concepts using tone/style controls and a per-pixel uplift mask to preserve player likenesses while improving skin scattering, hair and ear transmission, and contact shadows. GeForce NOW Ultimate users can also see it on NVIDIA-operated GeForce RTX 5080 cloud rigs.
Beyond DLSS 5, NVIDIA ACE adds Nemotron Speech 3.5 Streaming, Qwen3 TTS, RTX Spark preview support, Gemma4 plugin integration, a Stable Diffusion plugin, and llama.cpp performance updates. RTX Kit 2026.3 and RTX Mega Geometry 2.0 also expand support for neural texture compression, lighting, filtering, and continuous LOD streaming for high-density meshes.
“The engine frame defines what must remain, while developers direct what may change.”
