Meccha Chameleon ranks second behind Fortnite in PC revenue for June | Newzoo charts
Meccha Chameleon turned into one of June’s biggest PC revenue stories, landing at No. 2 behind Fortnite in Newzoo’s US and major European market rankings. The game launched on June 10 and has already cleared 15 million copies sold, an eye-catching result for a small-team release built by Lemorion_1224 and Hagneiro.
That pace puts it ahead of several well-known breakout cases, including Lethal Company’s 10 million in six months and Fall Guys’ 7 million in its first month. For developers, the takeaway is less about chasing a viral miracle and more about how socially driven multiplayer design can still cut through a crowded market when the core loop lands.
Newzoo’s June charts also showed familiar live-service and subscription patterns holding up. Paralives edged above The Sims 4 on PC revenue, Dead by Daylight climbed 16 spots after its tenth anniversary push, and Grounded jumped more than 250 places on console after arriving on PlayStation Plus. The broader engagement picture barely shifted, with Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2, Minecraft, Roblox, and League of Legends still dominating player attention.
On the console side, Grand Theft Auto 6 topped pre-orders with an estimated $260 million globally from five days of sales, while Fortnite remained the biggest revenue driver across platforms. For studios, the month reinforces two realities: breakout indies can still scale fast, and long-tail monetization remains heavily influenced by live ops, subscriptions, and platform placement.
