Sega reports 17.3% rise in Q3 net sales; games segment exceeds expectations
Sega Sammy opened the fiscal year with a solid beat on the bottom line. For the three months ended June 30, 2026, net sales rose 17.3% to ¥95 billion, while operating income improved to ¥2.3 billion after a ¥3.5 billion loss a year earlier. The Entertainment Contents segment, which includes games, brought in ¥68.4 billion and came in ahead of first-quarter expectations.
The mix matters here. Sega said full-game sales and licensing revenue were strong, and Rovio contributed positively in the quarter, while free-to-play games came in a little light. That points to a familiar split for live-service and mobile teams: premium launches and IP monetization are carrying more of the load, while existing F2P operations need tighter retention and monetization work to keep pace.
The bigger shift is still ahead. Sega says its major full-game releases for the fiscal year will start landing from Q3 onward, including Stranger Than Heaven and Persona 4 Revival, with those two scheduled for January and February next year. The company says wishlist activity and video views are tracking well, and it plans to keep building anticipation to maximize sales.
Licensing is also expected to grow in the coming quarters, supported by anniversaries, adaptations, and new Rovio titles. That makes Sega’s near-term outlook less dependent on a single launch window and more tied to how well it can coordinate premium releases, transmedia beats, and mobile operations across its IP portfolio.
“Leading indicators such as the number of wishlist registrations and related video view counts are favourable.”
