HandyGames rebrands as THQ Nordic Mobile
HandyGames is now THQ Nordic Mobile, and the name change comes with a clearer business focus: bringing established premium PC and console games to mobile. The publisher has already handled mobile versions of Wreckfest, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and Titan Quest, so this is less a pivot than a formalization of where the label is headed.
The publishing side is being consolidated under the THQ Nordic umbrella to expand work on mobile adaptations from existing franchises. For teams shipping across platforms, that usually means more emphasis on porting pipelines, platform-specific optimization, and preserving the feel of a known IP on touch-first hardware.
The internal development studio in Giebelstadt, Germany, will keep operating as HandyGames. Its role remains split between original projects and technical support for THQ Nordic Mobile's porting work, with co-founders Christopher Kassulke and Markus Kassulke still overseeing both sides of the business.
THQ Nordic says ongoing development, live support, and current licensing agreements continue unchanged. The company acquired HandyGames in 2018 and gained control of its IP, so this rebrand looks like an organizational cleanup that aligns the mobile publishing arm more closely with the parent publisher's franchise strategy.
