Curve Games partners with Wayfinder Studios to publish online co-op RPG Wyldheart

Briefing

Curve Games has partnered with Sweden-based Wayfinder Studios to publish Wyldheart, an online co-op RPG built by a team of former EA DICE developers. For studios chasing visibility and funding, the deal is a useful reminder that wishlist traction and community backing can still move the needle when a pitch is strong enough.

Wyldheart has already cleared 375,000 wishlists on Steam and brought in €248,000 through Kickstarter, which gives Curve a project with an unusually visible audience before launch. The exact release timing and platform plan haven’t been disclosed, but the publishing agreement suggests the game is moving into a more formal production and marketing phase.

Wayfinder was founded in 2020 by Dennis Brännvall, Fia Tjernberg, Manne Ederyd, and Adam Clark, all veterans of EA DICE. The studio has been positioning Wyldheart as a more experimental take on the co-op RPG/MMO space, with an emphasis on persistent worlds and smaller, community-owned servers rather than giant shared shards.

For developers, the interesting part is the business and design signal: Curve is framing the deal as part of a broader push to back distinctive indies after being acquired by Nazara Technologies for £21.7 million last May. That makes Wyldheart both a publishing bet and a test case for how much appetite there is for ambitious online games that try to avoid the usual live-service scale trap.
