New Croatian conference Splitscreen wants to keep "that half-holiday, half-work feeling" of Reboot Develop

Briefing

GamesIndustry.biz says a new Croatian conference, Splitscreen, is stepping in to fill the gap left by Reboot Develop, which ended this year after its organiser was served with a bankruptcy order. The new event is set for April 20–22, 2027, in Split, and the team behind it is explicitly trying to preserve the social, beachside atmosphere that made the old show a favorite stop for many developers.

The pitch is less about app-driven scheduling and more about face-to-face time. Organisers say the “most-requested feature” from people they consulted was no meeting app, so the event is leaning into spontaneous conversations, shared meals, and the kind of hallway networking that often turns into partnerships later on. The venue is the Radisson Blu in Split, with talks, workshops, and an upgraded game showcase replacing Reboot’s more improvised lobby setup.

The first confirmed speakers include Landfall’s Rebecca Lautner, Housemarque co-founder Ilari Kuittinen, Panache Digital’s Patrice Désilets, Ubisoft’s Fawzi Mesmar, and Rami Ismail. The team is also pushing hard for an international audience, with a particular focus on Asia, while still highlighting Croatia’s own development scene and its recent growth.

For developers, the practical draw is obvious: a smaller, more relationship-driven event in a destination city, with room for indies, AAA teams, and newer creators to mix. Mitic says the goal for year one is simple: attendees leave feeling the trip was worth it and want to come back.
