Babylon.js 9.29.0 Released
Babylon.js 9.29.0 is a maintenance-focused release that still packs a few meaningful engine changes for teams working in WebGPU, particles, and the frame graph. Babylon.js (GitHub Releases) says the update refreshes supported versions and clears a security audit across the ecosystem, while also landing targeted fixes in core, loaders, and editor tools.
The biggest practical wins are on the runtime side: CPU particles no longer allocate every frame, which should reduce GC pressure in particle-heavy scenes, and WebGPU 3D texture mipmap generation has been fixed. Babylon also tightened camera behavior, corrected point-light shading outside range, and fixed a couple of frame-graph issues, including velocity output tracking and a new min/max reducer block for the Node Render Graph Editor.
Content pipelines get a few useful fixes too. STL loading now handles mesh-name filters correctly when names are passed as an array, cached texture retries and loader entity collection scope were corrected, and MSDF text now releases its TextRenderer VAO when instance buffers resize. There’s also a resettable two-step glTF procedure authoring addition, which should help teams iterating on import/export workflows.
No major breaking change is called out here, but the security-audit dependency refresh touches many packages and the release is best treated as a patch/minor maintenance update. If you’re on Babylon.js and using WebGPU, particles, or the loaders/editor stack, this is the kind of version worth pulling in sooner rather than later.
