Pragmata and Resident Evil franchise boost Capcom's Q1 ordinary profit by 81% to $252.5m
Capcom opened the fiscal year with a strong quarter, posting ¥70.4 billion in net sales and ¥41.4 billion in ordinary profit for the three months ended June 30, 2026. That’s a sharp year-on-year rise, and the clearest signal is that premium launches plus long-tail catalogue performance are still a very effective mix for the company.
Pragmata is the standout new release here. Capcom says the game has sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide, reaching 1 million in two days and 2 million in 16 days. For developers, that’s a useful reminder that a new IP can still break through when launch timing, platform reach, and marketing alignment all land together.
The bigger structural story is Capcom’s digital business. Digital Earnings generated ¥54.6 billion in net sales, up 83% year-on-year, while catalogue sales reached 21.26 million units. Resident Evil Requiem crossed 8 million units sold, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2 kept growing, Devil May Cry 5 hit 14 million, and Street Fighter 6 reached 60 million units with help from esports coordination and cross-game promotion.
Capcom also credited arcade operations and amusement equipment, including a new smart pachinko machine, but the main takeaway for game teams is that durable back catalogues, multiplatform support, and coordinated live-ops or esports activity can materially move the financial needle. Capcom left its full-year forecast unchanged, so the company appears to be treating this as validation of its current release and monetization strategy rather than a one-off spike.
