Roblox announces AI-driven upscaler, which it claims will convert Roblox titles to photorealistic graphics
Roblox Reality is a new AI-driven photorealism layer that sits on top of Roblox’s existing engine and cloud infrastructure. Roblox says it uses Video World Models to enhance lighting, textures, and motion, and even showed a demo where a familiar Roblox game was rendered with more conventional human characters and higher-fidelity visuals.
For developers, the interesting part is less the demo and more the production angle: Roblox claims this could reduce the development time, cost, and compute normally needed for high-end graphics. The company also admits there are still scaling problems, especially if it wants to support millions of concurrent players affordably. An early version is expected later this year or in early 2027, so this is still a long way from being a solved pipeline.
