Board Meeting Minutes - July 2026

Briefing

MonoGame’s July board minutes point to a near-term 3.8.5 release, with the last PRs being wrapped up and a fresh preview on deck. The team also says new samples are being prepared, which usually signals the release is close enough for broader testing and documentation updates.

A notable shift for engine users is that DX12 and Vulkan are now considered release platforms. The extra time spent on them was used to harden the backends, which should matter to teams targeting modern APIs and trying to avoid late surprises in rendering or platform support.

The new Content Builder is still a work in progress, and the team has already identified some breaking-change items that will be handled after 3.8.5 ships. That suggests the foundation is balancing release stability now against larger pipeline changes later, which is a familiar tradeoff for middleware maintainers.

Beyond the engine work, MonoGame says a redesigned website is nearly ready, a new showcase video is being assembled, and the foundation is looking at CodeTriage to open up more community contribution paths. Bounties are currently paused while policies are reviewed, and growth reporting is being consolidated for transparency.
