FNA 26.10 Released
FNA 26.10 is a maintenance-style release, but it still matters for teams shipping on top of the framework because it refreshes the native backends and folds in a long list of correctness fixes. The headline additions are updated FNA3D 26.10 and FAudio 26.10, along with support for the Xbox 360 “Big Button” controller used by Scene It? peripherals.
Most of the rest of the changelog is about making FNA behave more like XNA and avoiding sharp edges in existing projects. DynamicSoundEffectInstance.IsLooped can now be set without throwing, Rectangle.Intersect gets a typo fix, and Graphics classes — especially GraphicsDevice — have more accurate exception behavior. There are also fixes for IDisposable semantics, sealed/serializable metadata, SoundEffect DistanceScale float edge cases, and a few geometry corner cases such as BoundingFrustum.Intersects and Plane.Normalize.
One notable compatibility tweak is that internal float epsilon handling now uses C FLT_EPSILON instead of C# float.Epsilon or machine-specific epsilon values. That should make behavior more consistent across platforms and runtimes, which is the kind of change that can quietly eliminate cross-platform bugs in math-heavy code.
The release also includes minor optimizations across the tree, including simpler boolean checks, less redundant zero-initialization, and model internals switching from Lists to regular arrays. For developers, this is mostly a drop-in update focused on stability, correctness, and a bit of runtime cleanup rather than new engine-facing features.
