Updated the Maze Game project with progress.

Need to do a little more core logic coding and then some polishing for basic conveyance for Alpha testing. In the meantime there has been some thoughts on adventure games. These are a favorite, and are the majority of other Game Ideas that are in the pipe. These other designs range from medium to large scope projects.

  • A Pirate adventure game in which the Player creates their own avatar, and customizes every aspect of the avatar, their ships, and their crew members. They sail all over, fighting other pirates, battling sea monsters, gaining notoriety, evading the Navy, exploring islands, temples, and the deep sea. Build a secret base. Gain reputation with various factions. Everything is a pirate, ghosts, robots, monkeys, whales, sharks…and what they all treasure most is Fruit, because the greatest danger to any pirate is Scurvy.
  • An emergent sim in which the Player creates their custom avatar, who is warden to a magical forest realm that is constantly changing. They must respect the balance of predator and prey, feast and famine, drought and plenty, life and death, and aid the realm when these balances are threatened. The Player will explore, meditate, observe, defend, and protect in a beautiful breathing world filled with all sorts of entities, ranging from the magical to the mundane.
  • A full adventure game with a focus on dungeon crawling. A cosmic event causes an advanced automated space observation station to execute a self-preservation protocol, spawning a remote synthetic vessel. The Star that served as this system's Sun has been snuffed out, and creatures of dark otherness are spread across the planets and satellites of the system. These new entities and the prior inhabitants have been thrown into chaos by the event, and the Vessel may be the only one to set things right. The Vessel is violently deposited on a nearby planet, and is cut off from its hub, that may or may not have survived the event, and they must find pieces of themselves to regain lost systems and knowledge. They will need to seek out and possibly repair their hub, and find the cause of the event and decide how to put things right for all of the entities thrust into this situation. The Vessel will encounter “alien” entities never seen, discover ancient secrets, and engage with all sorts of anomalies. To tackle these challenges and save the system, the vessel will wield a huge range of skills and synergies to create a truly unique set of skills and abilities.
  • Explore an ancient planet riddled with mystery, magic, science, and danger. Take any approach you desire to adventuring through this strange world. Stealth, Physical Might, Magic, Diplomacy, Science. This world is a a literal collision between old and new, full of treasure and artifacts of advanced technology and supernatural power. The Player will have a plethora of combat and diplomatic solutions as they delve into the mysteries surrounding the planet and those within it. As the world unfolds before the Player, more stories and adventures will be made available, so as to never run into the horizon. Sail the seas, explore the planets depths, travel the sweeping lands and deep overgrowth, and see things that can't be believed in this never ending adventure. Adventure alone or bring some friends. Time and Space overlap in this universe, exposing many parallels, allowing great adventurers to meet and join forces.

Adventure games provide a balance of story and mechanics that is very comfortable, and every time a new one is played, it leaves a feeling of needing more or wanting to take different approaches to systems and problems. Most of the above concepts have been design in Top-Down or 3rd person views. Lately, though, first-person perspective and its challenges and rewards has been poking its way in.
